The streaming water Trisanna runs through the entire Paznauntal valley, and is accessible almost everywhere. The crystal-clear water runs over smooth rocks, swooshes through steep sections, and cascade as it collect in pools – but it is where the flows calmly where the fish can be found. These fish hardly ever reach record sizes, but one can expect catch that brings between 300 – 700g on scale. The more than 20-km long and 6 – 12-m wide river runs through the entire Paznaun valley. It is accessible almost everywhere, and if you wear waders, it can be crossed in during at low water levels. In other words: perfect conditions for casting lines and fishing for beginners as well as for expert fishers.

Schwarzwassersee lake

The Schwarzwassersee lake is idyllically located above Ischgl at the beginning of the impressive Fimbatal valley. It has a surface area of about 220 square feet, it is surrounded by forest and meadows, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the Paznaun valley. Successful fisher can use the wood barbecue grill to cook their catch right by the lake. The lake is accessible by car, or on foot – just a few walking minutes from the Silvretta Seilbahn mid station. The Schwarzwassersee lake is also an excellent place for fly fishing.

Kopssee lake

The Kopssee lake is located above the community Galtür in the very back of the Paznauntal valley at an altitude of 1800 meters, and has a surface area of a bit less than half a square mile. The lake is surrounded by 3000-m high peaks of the Silvretta and Verwall mountain ranges, and is far away from the tourist masses. Visitors are amazed at the peacefulness and beauty of this place – it's like a little touch of Alaska in the Tyrolean mountains.


  • Regulations: Size limit: All fish must be at least 25 cm long. Bag limit: 6 fish per day and permit. Rust-resistant hooks and spoon bait with barbs are prohibited.
  • Cost: One day fishing permit: approx. € 25.00
  • Fish stock: Rainbow trout, brown trout, Arctic char and brook trout
Lake Silvretta

The Silvrettasee is located in the furthest Paznauntal on the Bieler Höhe at an altitude of 2,000 meters and has a water surface of about 120 hectares. The lake is surrounded by impressive three-thousand-meter peaks of the Silvretta Group. Every day visitors are fascinated by its charisma. The lake can be reached comfortably by car.

  • Regulations: The minimum size for all fish species is 25 cm. A maximum of 6 fish may be caught per day and card.
  • Price: The price for a day ticket is about € 30,00
  • Fish stock: rainbow trout, brown trout, lake and brook char.
Lake Vermunt

The two Vermunt lakes are located in the furthest Paznaun valley above Galtür at an altitude of 1,700 meters in the imposing Vermunt valley. The lakes are about 2 hectares in size, are surrounded by pastures and meadows and are among the most beautiful places in the Paznaun valley. The lakes are easy to reach by car. Especially for fly fishing the Vermuntseen are excellent.

  • Regulations: The minimum size for all fish species is 25 cm. A maximum of 5 fish may be caught per day and card.

Fisher of the year

Every year we at the Hotel Fliana crown our Fisher of the Year. All you need to do is to show us your best catch from one of the waters in Paznaun valley. The greatest fish wins a prize, and the winner receives a weekend for two persons at the Hotel Fliana, as well as a certificate. The current results will be continuously updated on our Website, and the winner will be announced September 20 of every year. Tight lines and good luck!
