Fishing holidays in Austria can be very varied. The Paznauntal valley is one of the greenest and most abundant with water in all of Tyrol. The conditions for a fishing holiday in Tyrol are exceptional, and in the area surrounding Ischgl, almost perfect.

The crystal-clear water runs over smooth rocks, swooshes through steep sections, and cascade as it collect in pools – but it is where the flows calmly where the fish can be found. These fish hardly ever reach record sizes, but one can expect catch that brings between 300 – 700g on scale. The more than 20-km long and 6 – 12-m wide river runs through the entire Paznaun valley. It is accessible almost everywhere, and if you wear waders, it can be crossed in during at low water levels. In other words: perfect conditions for casting lines and fishing for beginners as well as for expert fishers.

Schwarzwassersee lake

The Schwarzwassersee lake is idyllically located above Ischgl at the beginning of the impressive Fimbatal valley. It has a surface area of about 220 square feet, it is surrounded by forest and meadows, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the Paznaun valley. Successful fisher can use the wood barbecue grill to cook their catch right by the lake. The lake is accessible by car, or on foot – just a few walking minutes from the Silvretta Seilbahn mid station. The Schwarzwassersee lake is also an excellent place for fly fishing.

The Kopssee lake is located above the community Galtür in the very back of the Paznauntal valley at an altitude of 1800 meters, and has a surface area of a bit less that half a square mile. The lake is surrounded by 3000-m high peaks of the Silvretta and Verwall mountain ranges, and is far away from the tourist masses. Visitors are amazed at the peacefulness and beauty of this place – it's like a little touch of Alaska in the Tyrolean mountains.

Regulations:
Size limit: All fish must be at least 25 cm long.
Bag limit: 6 fish per day and permit.
Rust-resistant hooks and spoon bait with barbs are prohibited.
